Finding Furniture You Will Love

Making Your Home More Boho Chic: Ideas For You

When you are looking to update your home's decor and overall appearance, the first step is to select a style or scheme that you are going for. You might have chosen boho chic as your design scheme. And once, you make that general decision, it is the little things that will bring the whole scheme together. Learn some of the ways that you can make your home more boho chic, and then, you can begin making changes in your home to bring your new design scheme to life.

Start with Your Furniture

Your furniture, like your chairs, beds, and sofas, is one of the major focal points of every room in your home. Because furniture takes up so much space, making it as boho chic as possible will in and of itself make your whole home start to match your ideal design scheme.

Look for sofas in bright and cheerful colors. You might also look for sofas and chairs with colorful patterns. Try not to go for furniture that perfectly matches. For example, if you want a sofa and a love seat, opt for two different styles or colors that coordinate but do not perfectly match. Boho chic design is about mixing and matching colors and patterns to create a bold and unique look.

For your beds, consider canopy beds for a touch of whimsy. You might instead want to look for headboards and bed frames that have a more curvaceous feel (rather than highly structured and architectural). Boho design often incorporated natural wood, curves that seem to flow naturally, and the like which you can get from the bed or other furniture you choose.

Add In Vintage Accents

In addition to hitting the furniture store for some new pieces, you may also want to think about visiting a few antique and secondhand shops for accents to your design. Boho chic homes have a great combination of new and vintage pieces to keep everything interesting and eclectic (another cornerstone of the boho aesthetic).

Head to the furniture store for your larger furniture pieces, but for end tables and accent tables, you can go to the antique store. Do not be thrown off by finishes on vintage furniture that do not match or coordinate with your other pieces. You can always sand down and repaint these pieces so that they better go with your decor. Just make sure you find pieces that physically fit into the space you need them to. However, if you find pieces that already have a boho charm, then by all means, get those pieces.

Other accent pieces can be wall art, vases, figurines, dreamcatchers, and more that will bring the room together. Getting these pieces from antique and vintage shops will add charm to your boho chic design while also potentially saving you money in the process.

Now that you know a few of the ways that you can start making your home more boho chic, all you need to do is get started as soon as possible. For more information, reach out to an interior designer or talk to a professional at a furniture store near you.
