Start With Hardwood Cabinets - Think of buying two floor-to-ceiling, hardwood cabinets. The first one will be a perfect place to hold your entertainment center, things like a large screen television set, and an excellent sound system. A matching hardwood, floor-to-ceiling cabinet could be placed either next to your entertainment center cabinet or on an opposite wall.
The second wood cabinet will be the perfect place to keep things like board games, puzzles, and your collection of books. Also, the second cabinet might be a great place to display framed photographs of your family members and of your friends. Are you a collector? Choose throw pillows that will add a touch of formality to the room, thus combining elegance with a casual look.
When you select other furniture, say a coffee table and lamp tables, consider buying pieces that will complement the hardwood cabinets you selected. Or mix furniture styles. For example, a shabby chick rocking chair might add interest to your family room.
