Finding Furniture You Will Love

Are You Setting Up A Guest Room That Will Serve Two Purposes?

Do you have out-of-town guests often enough that you have decided to create a guest area out of one of the existing rooms in your house? Or, it might be that your grandchildren love to spend the night and you want them to have a special sleeping spot. On the other hand, maybe you need what will be used as the guest room for other purposes. For example, maybe you use that particular room for a home office. Or, maybe you are a crafter and you use that room to work on different projects.

Whatever the reason that you are setting up a guest room that will serve two purposes, from selecting a queen-size Murphy bed to including other furniture, here are some ideas that might help you to set up an attractive and useful area.

Install A Queen-Size Murphy Bed

Have you ever even seen a Murphy bed in real life before? If so, you more than likely already know that they take up virtually no space. If you haven't ever used a Murphy bed yourself, you might be very surprised at how comfortable they can be. Selecting a queen-size bed is just plain smart. It will allow your guests to have a bit more space than a regular double bed. And, if you have really young grandchildren, you might even be able to accommodate three or four little kids on the bed.

Decide on the style of Murphy bed you want to select. For example, a Murphy bed tucked behind a gorgeous white cabinet will add interest to the room. Or, select a vanishing Murphy bed that is cleverly designed to slip into a storage space that hardly shows. Don't forget sofa beds, too. Even though they don't count as actual Murphy beds, they still serve the same purpose.

Include Other Furniture

If you are also using the guest room area for a home office, consider how you can set up things like a computer desk and a filing system. For example, select a computer desk and a wooden filing system that is made of the same material that you selected to hold the Murphy bed. If you chose a white cabinet-style bed, then think of buying a white computer desk and filing cabinets that actually look like furniture you might find in an attractive living room or family room.

Is there room for a floor-to-ceiling shelf in the room? If so, that would be a perfect place to keep items that you'll need for your guests and for whatever purpose you'll be using the room for. For example, a basket holding an extra blanket would add a pretty touch to the shelf. It would also be the perfect place to store boxes that hold things like craft items or copy paper.
